Michael Lerner teaches physics at Beachwood High School. Before moving to Ohio, Michael has taught overseas in London and Warsaw and in the US in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. When he’s not thinking about teaching, Michael reads lots of non-fiction, walks around different neighborhoods gawking at houses, and naps with his loud cat. He also has oddly specific opinions about mechanical pencils.
Jeremy has been teaching physics since 1998, all at Elyria High School. Professional affiliations include American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), Ohio Section of AAPT (where he as served as both VP for High Schools and Corresponding Secretary), and American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA). In 2018, Jeremy completed leadership training to lead AMTA modeling workshops. Jeremy thoroughly enjoys nonfiction, being a nerd, travel, baseball, and Oxford commas.
Molly is currently a physics teacher at Twinsburg High School. She loves physics because it is like a real-life brain teaser. Molly has served as an AP Physics Exam Reader since 2015, and is a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA.) Molly enjoys reading, watching documentaries, traveling, and spending time with her black-lab mix, Zoe (the best dog ever).
Alex has been a science teacher at Beachwood High School since 2015, with his schedule including biology, chemistry, and anatomy & physiology. His undergraduate degree from Ohio State is in Molecular Genetics, after which he received his M.Ed from John Carroll. At BHS, he enjoys learning to be a better teacher from his experienced peers, facilitating the Student Council, and working with the GSA. He can’t yet list an impressive collection of teaching accomplishments like the other board members but didplace 1st in the Avon Middle School Science Fair and was listed as the Chronicle-Telegram’s “Kid with Character” in 2004. In his apartment, you’ll find him surrounded by a menagerie of plants, a collection of overpriced vinyl, and a fridge full of cold brew. (ENFJ, Enneagram Type 3, & a Carrie)
Stephanie Herb is currently a STREAM Coordinator at St. Columbkille School in Parma. Her background is in molecular biology, and while she was pursing a graduate degree in molecular microbiology from the Baylor College of Medicine, she caught the teaching bug and never looked back. She has taught at many grade levels (between 6th through 11th grade) and many subjects (General Science, Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry) in a variety of states (Texas, Pennsylvania, and Ohio). She also teaches Scottish Highland Dancing. When not chasing around twin 6-year-olds, Stephanie also enjoys reading, cooking, running, and watching Cleveland sports.
Holly has been teaching chemistry and grade 7-8 science since 1987 adding physics to her repertoire in 1998. She currently teaches a variety of physics courses at St Edward High School in Lakewood. She studied modeling pedagogy in physics and chemistry after stumbling across it at ASU in 2007, and became an AMTA workshop leader in 2014 to bring modeling workshops to the Greater CLE area. She has initiated, planned and led 1-day and 3-week workshops in CASTLE, Mechanics & Chemistry. Holly is an active member in AAPT, OS/AAPT, and AMTA. When she isn’t expanding her brain in a classroom or at conferences, she does so playing the violin, gardening, and playing with her rescue dogs and cats, noting that there is probably no data to demonstrate that house-cleaning improves brain function.
Kelly is passionate about teaching science to her middle school students at Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School. She has been teaching grade 6th through 9th math and science classes since 2004. In 2021 Kelly completed leadership training to lead AMTA modeling workshops. In her spare time Kelly enjoys hiking with her three dogs, playing guitar, reading nonfiction, collecting plants, and traveling.
