HAPPY HOUR!  – Register here for the Zoom Link!

All of us are learning to be new teachers in the time of COVID-19. In virtual spaces, it can be hard to feel connected and we would love to catch up with all of you. We’re looking to just hang out with other science teachers we like!

Who Are We as Science Educators? Discussions on Racism and its relevance in our classrooms (Part 1) – Register here for the Zoom Link!

Darnell Epps (Hawken School) & Karl Frerichs (University School)

Darnell and Karl both come with training from the National SEED Project.  With the current events and a spotlight on race, this conversation comes as a chance for science teachers to use the power of reflection to begin understanding their own stakes in the larger conversation about race. Often times, science provides a refuge of seemingly objective neutral ground. Here we’d like to start having our teachers start or expand how they can be present for their students and themselves with a race lens.

Jessie Sun (Laurel School) has 20+years experience with curriculum development around DEIB work and will be assisting as needed.

The two sessions are going to be different, but we hope that you’ll attend both. The work from the first session will enhance the work from the second session but is not required.
