George Nelson  began his teaching career back in 2009 in the greater Phoenix Area. George taught 8th Grade Science for four years. Since then, George has relocated back to his hometown in Crystal Lake, IL where he has taught 8th Grade Science for the past 6 years. George became acquainted with Modeling Instruction from the 3rd Masters of Natural Science program at Arizona State University under the leadership of Colleen Megowan-Romanowicz. He also attended the Chemistry I and Mechanics Workshops in the summer of 2014. After using Modeling Instruction in his classroom for the past seven years, George takes with pride that his students learn science by doing science. To summarize George’s experience “Seeing my students talking about science has lead to them actually understanding the content. While at the same time, they appreciate the actual process of science which has been one of the most rewarding experiences as an educator.”
